Use Of Force Reports
A new innovation for KATS is our Use of Force Reports. Many agencies now require a Use of Force Report anytime a force application is used on a suspect. The Force report system built into KATS quickly and efficiently takes you through the steps that justify your use of the dog on a specific application.
Note: Systems that are installed as Detector dog or Search & Rescue dog programs will not have these screens.
Subject Screen
The Subject screen takes down the basic details of the actions of the suspect adn what precipitated the events. The Subjects name is obtained from a pull down menu that is created when you place the name in the Names entry screen.
Type of Incident Screen
The Incident screen further details the type of call you are attending at the time of the event, categorizing the incident and further detailing the circumstances that justify the application of the dog.
K9 Screen
The K9 Screen lays out the actual application of the dog, what, if any injuries occurred as a result of the application of the dog, what treatment was given, where it was given and by who. Note how the information is collected to place the dog in various levels of force, such as a Force Presence Only, Used or Not Used after an announcement was given etc. Multiple boxes can be checked off at the same time.
Again, as in other screens, if you have a hospital that you attend regularly, you can place the full name and address information in the Snippet files so you can click and autofill instead of having to type the information in each time.
Other Information Screen
Finally, this screen provides further justification for the use of the dog as it pertains to this particular incident.
Note: A Use of Force Report is not included on Incident Reports automatically. These are usually used for internal administrative purposes and therefore are printed separately on a report that is separate from the standard Incident Report.
