K9 Solutions Center Becomes Official Distributor for K9 Activity Tracking Software (KATS)

K9 Solutions Center (http://www.dopedog.com/) has reached an agreement with Eden Consulting Group and The K9 Academy For Law Enforcement in British Columbia, Canada to distribute The K9 Activity Tracking System (KATS).

The K9 Activity Tracking System is a dynamic record keeping program designed specifically for police, military, and civilian K-9 operations, training and applications. The system has been developed by police K-9 officers, prosecuting attorneys and software engineers to meet the needs of todays dog teams. KATS is the original K9 Database System, very popular in Law Enforcement as an in depth analysis program of training activity and deployments, as well as its use in court to buffer against potential liability issues.

K9 Solutions Center, located near Dayton Ohio , offers high quality training. Their training division is comprised of police officers who work the street daily, and are familiar with the needs of practical training. They provide Narcotics Detection, Explosives Detection, Accelerant Detection, Tracking, Search & Rescue, and Dual Purpose Police K9.

Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency Chooses KATS Generation III

Vancouver, BC - Eden K9 Group is pleased to announce that the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency based in Indianapolis, Indiana has chosen KATS Generation III as their preferred system for maintaining statistics for their area of responsiblity in Indiana. MECA is responsible for coordinating 6 agencies and KATS will be at the forefront of maintaining their training and deployment records for all the dog teamss within their area. KATS was chosen out of the systems tried due to it’s ease of use and input from officers who had tried out various systems. We look forward to working with MECA and continuing to develop their records systems.

A few report enhancements were done to the KATS Service Release 2 and a new build created for the SR2 release. A new version of the SR2 package was uploaded on June 25, 2003. For those who are already running KATS Gen III and are upgrading we have added a new file that will not require as much download time. The new file does not include the .NET framework as it will already be installed on the systems that have been running Generation III. Both downloads are now available from the download page. You will now find the build number is included in the splash page and in the “About” information tab.

We have released KATS Generation III Service Release 2 (SR2) now available on the download site. This version looks after a number of issues related to networking, and improves on the initial installation process. A few more small items have been included to enhance the software to a more efficient standard. Changes in this release include:

• Screen Saver has been updated, including more pictures.
• Ability to "Install for All Users"
• Uninstall shortcut has been added to the Start - Programs - KATS menu
• UNC path can be selected for Image location and location to save exported files
• From the export screen, all data in the database can be exported bypressing ALT-A to display a checkbox, then place a checkmark in the box before pressing the Export button
• Corrections have been made in the 'Activity Summary by Code' and 'Activity Summary Graph' reports to ensure the activity data matches
• Logging has been added to the import from an old KATS20 database to provide details as to which records did not get imported and why they did not get imported (on by default)

April 12th, 2003

A few bugs have been fixed and a number of small improvements have been made to Generation III. This Service Release 1 file can be obtained from our download site. Changes in this release include:

• Ability to minimize/maximize the main window
• Snippets no longer replace the text that is in the field to be added. They are now inserted at the location of the cursor or will replace any selected text (much like when doing a copy/paste into a text field)
• The Export option now has the ability to set the location of where the exported file should be saved.
• Modifying an image in the Training Section no longer results in an error message
• The database location is no longer automatically reset to C:\...\Kats30\dbKATS.mdb if a database cannot be found. Instead, the user will be presented with a messagebox indicating that the database could not be found with the option to use the default database or cancel
• The setup has been compiled with InstallShield which will result in a "friendlier" install of the .NET Framework. A progress bar will now be displayed that keeps cycling to indicate that something is happening.

KATS has been released!! The CD’s are now available and all orders for the system have been filled and are in the process of being shipped. Don’t forget that if you are presently using one of our competitors software packages we will provide you with the upgrade pricing to assist you in moving over to KATS.

Programming is complete and the CD’s have been cut, we are just awaiting shipment of the final product. We have a large number of orders to release as soon as the CD’s arrive and all orders will ship within 48 hours of the arrival of the CD’s. At this point, for free upgrades, the January 15th date will still be used for those who have purchased KATS v2.0 since October 15th, 2002. Also, our upgrade pricing also applies to any agencies who wish to send us their copies of CMD, Lawtracks, Command K9 or any other competitors software. To qualify for the upgrade price, simply send us the software and applicable manuals along with proof of purchase when you order KATS Generation III and you will receive KATS at the upgrade price.

KATS Generation III has finally been completed. Our target release date is January 15th, 2003 if all goes according to plan. Be advised that for a limited time we are offering upgrade pricing to those who are presently using competitive software and wish to switch to the new KATS Generation III software. This requires that you send your CD/Disks and manuals along with your registration form to Eden Consulting Group along with a request for upgrade pricing. This offer will remain in effect for the first 90 days subsequent to the release date.
