SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Programmed by industry leaders in law enforcement software, Visual Statement, KATS has been re-invented, re-designed and re-developed! KATS Generation III has hundreds of enhancements from the standard KATS program.
Training Records - This database records all the records of training for each dog and handler. This has become vital in today's law enforcement world as these records are often required for court. In many cases these records have greatly reduced liability in regards to dog applications as the officers are able to show prudent training techniques when problem areas have been identified. Record keeping for K9 units has become a mandatory requirement by modern police agencies throughout North America. These training records maintain statistics for patrol, narcotics, explosives detection as well as search and rescue team training.
Training Aids Management - KATS now has a manager designed to maintain training aids, whether it be for narcotics, explosives, cadaver or general purposes, the system allows you to maintain and manage your aids on the fly.
Deployment Records - The deployment side of the system maintains a detailed record of every single deployment done by a dog team in a real situation. This record is later used in court to validate the deployment and can be scrutinized by both the defense and prosecution. As such, it is important that appropriate details be recorded every time a dog is deployed.
Diagramming Tools - There are two built in diagramming systems in KATS Generation III. Scene Creator and Scene Assembler are computer aided drawing programs that when combined can provide you with a very powerful drawing capability within KATS. You can now draw tracks, crime scenes and training scenarios in any file or training record you require.
Photographic Record Maintenance - Each training and deployment record now affords you the added functionality of photo importation in jpg, gif or bmp format. Training scenarios, injuries, evidence, contraband, recovered property etc can all be photographed and maintained on a per file basis. Like our CAD Drawing program, this is not software you need to add to the system, the functionality is built in..
Reminder System - The new reminder system manages your court dates, appointments, certification dates, veterinarian appointments; virtually any appointment you need to manage. The system automatically tells you each time you open the system if you have an open appointment. Have a court date? The system not only advises that you have court, it also provides you with a direct link to your case in the KATS system if that court is related to a KATS entry, allowing you to print your case up and be ready for court instantly.
Rolodex - There are also a number of other records that are kept within the system. These include an internal "rolodex" system the officers use to locate information or people important to their training and operations. Name, numbers, addresses and notes can be kept on emergency vet clinics they may require, contact names for training facilities, trainers, decoys etc.
Reminder System - The reminders system is a simple to use and unique tickler for the K9 Activity Tracking System. New in this version of the system it provides you with the ability to maintain an ongoing list of important dates such as court dates, training days, interview appointments, certification dates etc. Virtually any type of reminder you want to maintain can be stored in this system.
Medical Database - A medical database is built into the system to maintain all the veterinarian records, including costs. This enables a full medical record to be kept on each dog as well as maintaining cost records which become invaluable for budgeting purposes.
Costs Database - The costs database maintains all costs related to the dog, equipment and other supplies such as food for the dog. Again, this becomes an invaluable part of the system as budget times roll around.
Use of Force Reports - Anytime a dog is deployed to make a physical apprehension of a suspect, there are always checks and balances required to ensure that the application of the dog in the situation was ethical, appropriate under the circumstances and neccessary. Our standard use of force report system maintains a quick checklist for each deployment that can be filled out quickly and used to evaluate the deployment circumstances. This is an invaluable tool for agency managers who want to ensure the quality of deployments by their K9 teams.
Resource Center - The Resource Center is a section designed to allow the dog handler to scroll through a series of businesses that market dogs, dog related training, equipment or services, police or search and rescue related equipment or services that are of high quality. Each company that comes on board with us will be provided with a link to an internal HTML site built directly into the KATS system as well as a link from within that page directly to their own Internet site if they have one.Printing reports in KATS is a very simple process of selecting the type of report you require and producing it. Reports can be filtered as to your specific need. KATS will use the default printer

A good example of a use of the export function would be to allow you to export a report to Microsoft Word so that you can adjust the report further for presentation purposes by using MS Word where you are not restricted to the basic reporting functions of KATS.

KATS has been customized to install to handle SAR needs without including all the extra requirements needed by law enforcement patrol teams. This is handled by selecting the system type you require during system setup.
